It is necessary to eliminate the flickering of lamps/fixtures.
Often, when dimming lamps with low power consumption, a problem arises - the lamps flicker or do not turn off completely when the dimmer is turned off. This is due to the fact that the dimmer is constantly powered from the mains and consumes 0.8 watts, and this load is also transferred to a low-power lamp. The FIBARO Bypass 2 shunt is designed to solve this problem. It eliminates the residual current passing through the dimmer by turning on parallel to the lamp. In this case, there is no flickering.
The FIBARO Dimmer 2 was tested with various types of lamps with and without a shunt, with a 2- and 3-wire connection scheme. During testing, it was revealed that with a 2-wire connection scheme, the FIBARO Dimmer 2 can incorrectly determine the type of load and because of this, the lamp starts blinking when turned on, and then turns off. To set the type of dimming correctly, use parameter number30.

Test results of FIBARO Dimmer 2 with different types of lamps
Tested lamps:
- 40W Incandescent lamp
- 95W incandescent lamp
- LED 2W non-dimmable
- LED 5W Gauss Non-dimmable
- LED 10W Ikea dimmable
Looking ahead, the best lamp turned out to be LED 10W Ikea dimmableit does not require a shunt, it does not blink in the off state.
